Current Art Exhibition at the Tofino Botanical Gardens

Fractals, by Joan Collins, Celia Pickles, and Nancy Lagana

Running August 1st to September 15th

Artist's Reception
Wed. August 1st, 3 - 5 pm

Although the Tofino area is home to many talented artists, it is also visited by many more artists who similarly draw inspiration from the Pacific coastline. Three such British Columbia artists, Joan Collins, Nancy Lagana, and Celia Pickles, have come together to exhibit their works at the Tofino Botanical Gardens in an exhibition titled "Fractals." Fractals are the repetitive patterns found in nature that appear similar at all levels of magnification – coast lines are examples of fractal geometry at work – the closer one examines the living border between water and land, the more one sees an undulating, ever smaller pattern of rocky fingers, spits of sand and shell – an infinitely regressing lacework that is "the edge."

Join these artists as they begin their 6 week exhibition of paintings and photographs of the Pacific Rim, Wednesday August 1st from 3-5 pm in the Tofino Botanical Gardens.
