George Patterson
George is the founder and executive director of the Tofino Botanical Gardens Foundation.
He is a graduate of Harvard University and has more than thirty years of
business experience. In 1975, he founded his own company, City Gardens Inc.
This company was sold in 1991 when it had 225 employees. After this career he took the lead on many science-based
conservation projects including: a founding Board member of Ecotrust, a
founding member and president of the Clayoquot Biosphere Project, an Advisor
on Sustainable Development to Conservation International and an Advisor to
the School for Field Studies.
Josie Osborne B.Sc (Agr), NPD
Josie does many things at the Gardens and the Field Station. Her main interest is making sure
that all of the visitors to our property have a pleasurable and educational experience.
Josie brings her marine biology background, and many years working alongside Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations communities
to help manage the visitor experience. With a Masters of Resource Management and membership in the Association of Professional Biologists of B.C, Josie applies her skills as a biologist and resource manager to facilitate groups and individuals at
the Clayoquot Field Station and the Tofino Botanical Gardens. Josie feels a true
sense of purpose when assisting people to learn about their environment and
each other with respect and a sense of humour.
