At the back of the main Tin Wis Hall (where the poster session is taking place), short films will be shown in a mini-theatre (seats ~20 people)

  • 3:00 pm “Is Organic Agriculture Beneficial to Indigenous People? A Study on Organic Agriculture and Food Sovereignty in Cirakayan Community, Taiwan” (8 min, Taiwan, presented by Vicky Chang). Accompanies presentation of same name Monday May 10th presentation in Traditional Foods session.
  • 3:15 pm  "Cacao: more than a bar of chocolate" (15 min film, Mexico, presented by film maker Mayra Villar Buzo, Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico) 
  • 3:45 pm  "Cha-me-ta Ha-uuk Hesquiaht Project (eating the right way)(2010, Ecotrust Canada, Hesquiaht Nation, Clayoquot Biosphere Trust) (5 min, presented by film maker Stephanie Hughes, Ecotrust Canada)
  • 4:00 pm "Traditional crops, a strategy for food sovereignty and intercultural learning: An experience in the Universidad Intercultural del Estado de México in the Mazahua region" (12 min film, Mexico, presented by film maker Rocío Albino Garduño, Universidad Intercultural del Estado de México) 
  • 4:30 pm "Xepe Coosot (Narrow Sea), the Sea of the Comcaac: The Infiernillo Channel" (8:40 min film, Mexico, presented by film maker Thor Morales Vera)
  • 5:00 pm  "Reviving our Culture, Mapping our Future" (2009, The Gaia Foundation) tells the story of a special gathering of indigenous leaders from Venda (South Africa), Altai (Russia) and the Colombian Amazon, and a training in eco-cultural mapping of the Venda territory in order to communicate their message to the rest of the world. Produced by The Gaia Foundation in partnership with the Mupo Foundation, the African Biodiversity Network (ABN) and CTA. (12 min film, presented by Liz Hosken, Director of The Gaia Foundation) 
  • 5:30 pm "The Kamburu Story" (2009, The Gaia Foundation) tells how Kago and Rosemary, and the Kamburu community in central Kenya, took back control of their farming system by reviving their traditional farming knowledge and seed diversity, to create a food surplus in just 18 months. Produced by The Gaia Foundation in partnership with the Institute of Culture & Ecology (ICE) in Kenya, and the African Biodiversity Network (ABN). (12 min film, Kenya, produced by the Gaia Foundation, presented by Gathuru Mburu, Director of The Institute of Culture & Ecology, Kenya)
