Bus Transportation from Vancouver International Airport to Tofino

Most Congress delegates will be flying in to Vancouver International Airport, which is a five-six hour trip from Tofino, including a 90 minute ferry journey across the Salish Sea from Vancouver to Vancouver Island. Public bus transportation from Vancouver to Tofino is awkward, with only one bus arriving daily in Tofino. Therefore, we have arranged for bus transport directly from the Airport to Tofino at a reduced price, from a locally owned company called "Tofino Bus."

Inbound to Tofino 

If flying internationally, please remember that your flights may be delayed and that it is difficult to predict the amount of time that it may take to get through Canadian Customs and Immigration.  Please plan accordingly. We suggest you time your flight to arrive AT LEAST three hours before these bus departure times. [1] Pick-up location is Templeton Station on the rapid transit “Canada Line,” a free 5 minute ride from the Vancouver International Airport. Delegates who have stayed overnight in Vancouver must arrange to get to the Templeton Station (most easily accomplished by returning to airport (using free hotel shuttle if staying near the airport) then taking the free Canada Line to Templeton Station). 

Outbound to Vancouver 

When making your travel plans, please remember that international flights require that you be at the airport two-three hours in advance of your scheduled flight time.  You should plan to arrive at the airport at least one hour in advance of any domestic (within Canada) flights. In order to ensure that you arrive in Vancouver in time for your flight, you may need to stay in Vancouver overnight.  Please click here for information on accommodations in Vancouver.

This service is only available by pre-registration. Return tickets must be purchased in advance – no guarantees about return travel can be made without pre-booking. All bookings must be pre-paid.

** The fare on the Canada Line from YVR to downtown Vancouver is at least CAD$2.50 (depending on time of day) but there is NO CHARGE to travel the Canada Line between the airport and Templeton Station.
