Questions to the CommunityThe students prepared and asked the following questions to community members: Opening Question to All: DIRECTED QUESTIONS Mr. Nicolay: I like thinking about sustainability. Is there a job in Tofino for someone to help the environment? Mr. Mayor: Why isn’t there a mandatory recycling pick-up program in Tofino? Ms. Mole: What are two ways that we can save energy at our school? Mr. Hanton: How can people in Tofino encourage people to re-use their plastic? Mr. Nicolay: How can the Tofino-Longbeach Chamber of Commerce help create a beach clean-up day at Chesterman’s Beach? Mr. Mayor: Why is biodiesel not available in Tofino? Mr. Nicolay: We found a lot of plastic in front of our houses at Long Beach [Esowista First Nations community] yesterday during our beach clean-up. How can we slow down or stop plastic from going into our ocean? Mr. Hanton: How can we stop dogs from chasing birds on Long Beach and Tofino Mudflats? Mr. Enns: How are we going to respect our biodiversity at Long Beach when we build our new houses [Esowista First Nations community expansion]?
