About the Food

The food ranged from regionally organic fruits and vegetables to factory-produced macaroni and cheese, and of course pizza. Sampling from the political spectrum of food producers allowed the camp to discuss the differences between organically produced food, factory-farm food and locally or regionally produced food.

The students mapped and calculated the distances that three of the meal's ingredients traveled to get to our table. One of our lunches traveled an impressive 42,000 kilometers to get to the Clayoquot Field Station's kitchen.
